Multimedia

While at the University of Georgia, I have had multiple opportunities to complete multimedia journalism work. Browse a few pieces below:

This semester-long piece examined the population of "DACA-mented" students in Athens-Clarke County. In telling this sensitive story with the utmost respect and care, I employed text, audio, data visualization and video (including an anonymous video profile) to craft a full view of these students' experience.

This piece examined the lack of affordable housing for the workforce in Athens-Clarke County. In speaking with a county commissioner and housing advocate in the city, as well as a workforce housing advocate in the area, we were able to paint a picture of one of  the county's most pervasive problems and its lack of solution as of yet. As far as multimedia elements, I was able to employ with both Knight Lab audio tools and an interactive quiz format for one of my most experimental multimedia pieces of my university career. The piece was included in the official launch party for the Grady Newsource website and thus was presented to members of the Grady Board of Trust.

One of my first multimedia pieces, this straightforward text and video package was in the vein of business journalism, examining a new local business to Athens Clarke-County. Though some of my earlier university work, I think it is a great indicator of my growth as I've progressed through my journalism coursework.
